Man arrested after shooting in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) - Lynchburg Police say they arrested a man after a shooting Saturday morning.

Police were called to Lynchburg General Hospital, where a victim was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He has since been treated and released.

But through their investigation, police say they determined the suspect is Leon Rose, and the shooting happened in the 500-block of Norwood St., when two men were leaving the Rose’s residence in a vehicle.

Officers say Rose shot at the vehicle, and one of the men inside was injured.

Rose is charged with malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felon.

Rose is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
