Man dies after motorcycle runs into tractor-trailer in Pittsylvania County

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7)-- A man driving a motorcycle in Pittsylvania County died Tuesday after he crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash was on Route 40, two-tenths of a mile south of Route 876.

The motorcyclist was traveling west along Route 40 when he crashed into the back of a stopped tractor-trailer there for construction. The zone was clearly marked and had flaggers for the lane closure.

Keith Randolph Craighead, 57, of Penhook, Va. was identified as the driver of the motorcycle, and was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash. He died at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The tractor-trailer driver did not have any injuries.

This case is still being investigated.
