Woman dies after James River crash in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7)-- A second person has died after a crash of a car into the James River.

Lynchburg Police say 47-year-old Glory Ann Colvin of New Jersey died eight days after the crash, which happened Thursday, October 10. The car hit the river at the bottom of 7th Street in Lynchburg.

The car's driver, 56-year-old William Colvin, died shortly after the crash after being taken to a hospital. He was determined to have drowned.

A third person in the car was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police say defective equipment was a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation. The Lynchburg Police Department asks anyone with information to call 434-455-6047.
