Police are investigating Roanoke's 13th homicide of 2019. A man was shot and killed in the 3800 block of Williamson Road.

"I was in there hanging out with some friends, it was about 12:30, a young gentleman came in running, saying there were shots fired in the parking lot," Kim, who was inside W.R. Brews at the time of the shooting, said.

Kim was in town visiting friends at W.R. Brews.

"I was just tensed up just standing there like, why, I didn't have this in mind for today," she said.

She said her friend sitting at the other end of the bar heard around ten gunshots.

"And the bouncer guy locks the door and tells us hey, no one goes out, no one's coming out, just stay still, be safe," Kim said.

Police and medics arrived and found a man had been shot. Medics performed CPR, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family and friends tell WDBJ7 the victim's name was Chad Erndt and he was 30 years old.

"There's a sense of urgency that something needs to happen, that things need to change," Kevin McNeil, the Pastor of Bethany Christian Church, said.

The church is just down the road from the shooting. McNeil says he's concerned.

"When I first came in and I saw all the police cars and caution tape, I was a little shocked and surprised, but concerned that something had gone wrong, and that it was something that was actually so close to our church."

McNeil says this is out of the ordinary for the neighborhood.

"When we think of this neighborhood, it's very quiet, a lot of families, a lot of children," McNeil said.

No one has been arrested, and police do not believe the public is in any danger. If you have any information, you're asked to contact the Roanoke Police Department.
