56-year-old motorcyclist dies from injuries after Peters Creek Road crash

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. Update:
A 56-year-old motorcyclist who was critically injured after a Peters Creek Road crash died on Tuesday, Roanoke County officials said.

Roanoke Couty said James Manetta, 56, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Charges are pending in the case and the investigation is still ongoing.

A man is suffering from life-threatening injuries after a crash involving a motorcycle.

It happened Monday in Roanoke County at around 6:43 p.m. in the 5600 block of Peters Creek Road. James Manetta, 56, was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle when it hit a 2013 Ford Explorer that pulled out from Newland Road.

No one inside the Ford Explorer was hurt -- both driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts. Marietta was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

Both northbound lanes of Peters Creek Road were closed for a few hours, but are now back open.

The investigation is ongoing.
