VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WWBT) — A Virginia Beach man was sentenced to four years in prison for child porn.

Jeffrey Dirocco, 58, of Virginia Beach, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of possession of child pornography and was given a four-year active prison sentence with an additional 11 years suspended.

Once released from prison, he will have to register as a sex offender and be placed on indefinite supervised release. Dirocco was sentenced in Virginia Beach Circuit Court by Judge William R. O’Brien.

An undercover agent with Virginia State Police downloaded several images of child pornography in 2015 from a peer-to-peer network. Investigators determined those images were distributed from someone living in Virginia Beach, and agents searched the home, which turned out to be Dirocco's.

He admitted to having hundreds of files of child pornography on his computer and had saved them to a peer-to-peer network that he had been using for years .

The investigation uncovered more than 1,600 videos of child pornography on Dirocco’s laptop, digital camera and flash drive.

Additionally, hundreds of images depicted children being sexually abused, including some who were previously identified as victims by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

“People who rob children of their innocence and exploit them through the possession of child pornography should know they will be held accountable for their actions,” said Attorney General Mark Herring. “This is another strong sentence that will take a predator off of our streets, making our communities and our children safer. I want to thank my team and the local law enforcement agencies who were dedicated to working on this case.”
