BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Students in Montgomery County are taking a stand against bullying by uniting.

They wore orange Wednesday at Harding Avenue Elementary School in Blacksburg to show their support for one another.

Unity Day is recognized nationwide to encourage kindness and acceptance of others.

"I think bullying is something that should stop and that bullying isn't a good thing," Kallan Malabad, Fifth Grade Student

"It is very important that students learn how to collaborate with many different types of students from different backgrounds," Stephanie Sedor, the principal of Harding Avenue Elementary.

Students also made a paper chain of characteristics that make them unique and why they should be accepted for who they are.
