BEDFORD Co., Va. (WDBJ7) -- Over 60 people are on a Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) coordinated search to find 28-year-old Nathan William Faidley.
According to the Lynchburg Police Department, detectives tracked Faidley's cell phone to the area of the James River near Big Island Thursday. Four boats and multiple canine teams combed the James River and the surrounding banks for Faidley.
A drone was also used to search inaccessible areas.
After searching for around 9 miles of the river and shore, Faidley was not found.
Police said they are unsure of how Faidley travelled to Big Island.
Virginia State Police Search and Recovery Team, Bedford Co. Special Operations Command, Lynchburg Fire Department, and the Bedford County Sheriff's Office all assisted in the search.
Faidley was reported missing on March 3. Faidley was last seen at the 2100 block of Westerly Dr. and has not been seen since.
Faidley is described as a 28-year-old white male, 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 210 pounds. His main mode of transporation is walking or requesting rides.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen Faidley walking or has information on his whereabouts to contact the Lynchburg Police Department.
