YORK COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) -- An I-80 traffic stopped reeled in nearly a half-million dollars in mustard-soaked cash this week. Homeland Security has joined the investigation.
The traffic stop happened on February 18th. A York County deputy pulled over a vehicle, found it suspicious and asked permission to search. The driver agreed. The deputy found $490,000 smeared with mustard.
The condiment didn't fool Dundee the dog, a York County K-9 who noted that the cash smelled like illegal drugs.
The money was reportedly headed to the Chicago area. It's now sitting in a Nebraska bank while Homeland Security mulls its next move.
The suspect's name was not released.
