NCAA Division III Women's Basketball to crown its champion in Salem for the first time

SALEM, Va. (WDBJ7) -- It is not often we get to talk about a first when considering the City of Salem, Va., and hosting NCAA Division III championships. But that's exactly what we get to do this week as Virginia's Championship City along with the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and Roanoke College prepares to host the first NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship in the Roanoke Valley.

Four teams from an original field of more than 400 remain in the tournament bracket. They all will play for a chance to hoist the 73rd Division III walnut & bronze prize award in Salem since 1993. Semifinals are set for Friday, March 15 at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The national championship game is slated for Saturday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m. All games will be played in the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College.
