Wendell Walker beat out two opponents to win the Republican nomination for the 23rd district House of Delegates seat on Tuesday.
Walker secured nearly 42 percent of the vote, Turner Perrow, Jr. was not far behind with about 39 percent, and Ronald Berman carried 19 percent of the vote.
Walker, Berman and Perrow, Jr. were all vying to replace longtime Delegate T. Scott Garrett, who is retiring.
The 23rd District includes parts of Lynchburg, Bedford and Amherst counties.
Walker will face Democratic nominee David Zilles in November.
