Carilion Clinic president and CEO Nancy Agee has been named Business Person of the Year by Virginia Business.
Earlier this year, Agee was also ranked 23rd on the list of "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare"
Agee has led Roanoke-based Carilion since 2011. Carilion serves Southwest Virginia's roughly one million people at more than 200 patient-care sites, including seven hospitals. Carilion is the largest private employer in western Virginia, with over 13,000 employees, which, includes almost 700 doctors.
Next year, Agee will become chairwoman of the American Hospital Association board of trustees.
"[Agee's] leadership style is servant leadership. It means that you're open to truly see yourself helping others, not only to get their jobs done, but helping the community to get to the next level it needs to get to", says Joyce Waugh, president, and CEO of the Roanoke Regional Chamber.
