ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- After leaving the US market in 1995 to focus on the European Market, Alfa Romeo is back and they have a brand new location in Roanoke, Va.
Berglund Automotive has opened their new Berglund Fiat Alfa Romeo dealership at 3530 Franklin Road.
The legend of Alfa Romeo started in 1910 when Cavalier Ugo Stella acquired the Italian plant of a French car maker in Milan, Italy. The company was called “Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili”, hence the acronym A.L.F.A.
Alfa Romeo enjoyed worldwide success for decades on the racing circuit and, of course, becoming a worldwide brand in automobiles. Over the years, they became a global automobile manufacturer with a strong presence all over the world including the U.S., before they left the US in 1995.
Now, Berglund has helped bring them back!
Berglund Automotive is conducting a multi-year, massive remodeling project, to bring contemporary, state-of-the-art designs to their dealerships throughout Southwest Virginia.
Along with the Berglund Alfa Romeo Fiat dealership, the Berglund Ford dealership in Salem, VA saw a $2 million dollar major remodel last year, with the Mazda dealership beginning a makeover now.
Berglund’s President, William Farrell, is excited about bringing Alfa Romeo to Virginia.
"It's exciting to get to bring a new automobile franchise to Southwest Virginia. Alfa Romeo started in 1910 and has consistently delivered the type of engineering that provides a great driving experience and custom look and feel to their vehicles. The Giulia is fast and the new Stelvio SUV we're carrying is a unique type of automobile that people can fit their whole family in. We're proud to have something like Alpha Romeo as part of our family of dealerships," said Farrell about the new addition to their robust 31 franchises in 10 locations throughout southwest Virginia.
