PEARISBURG, Va. (WDBJ) -- A local non-profit has taken on a new name to better reflect its mission of connecting people with affordable housing.

Previously called Pembroke Management, the organization is now known as Housing Connections.

The nonprofit partners with the Virginia Housing Development Authority to administer housing choice vouchers for low-income families and individuals in the New River Valley to find housing in the private market.

"We really focused and got down to the core of what we did and that was connecting people to housing, and through this housing choice voucher program, hence the name 'Housing Connections,'" said Executive Director Brett Rader.

The organization provides services in Craig, Floyd, Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski counties.
