RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ) Cars lined up down the street to bring new and returning students back to Radford University.
"This is a really exciting time of year," Susan Trageser, Vice President for Student Affairs, said. "It's so wonderful to have the students back on campus. It's great to meet the new entering members of the Radford family and it's always wonderful to see their families as well."
Families like freshman Kyle Williams and his mom Renee Dillard.
"I'm glad he chose Radford," Dillard said. "I'm satisfied."
Williams says he's looking forward to a lot at the university.
"Just adapting to living in a new area, learning new things, expanding my variety, most of all getting an education."
As families arrived, they were greeted by student volunteers.
"It's great to see all these new faces. And the kids," student volunteer Hannah Pennant laughed and then corrected herself. "The students seem really eager to be here and their parents seem on the same level which is very good."
They say there's lots to love about their school.
"There's a lot of stuff to do on campus and off campus," Benicia Lovely said. "I guess the teachers too, they're really nice with helping out with things."
Some of the older students have a lot of advice for incoming freshman.
"Get big on stepping off campus. It's not just the campus. There's a lot of things around," Senior, Kevin Kelly said.
"Like Radford is a really good city to just adventure in and find yourself," Lovely said.
School officials say they too are looking forward to the coming school year.
"I just hope it's a fantastic year where the Radford family continues to thrive and just continues all of their successes," Trageser said.
