Assistance offered at E.C. Glass High School after two students were shot at nearby apartment

Additional support is on site at the school to help students and staff after two students who attended E.C. Glass High School were shot Thursday evening.

One student has died and another is seriously injured after the Thursday evening shooting at a nearby apartment.

A man has died and another is seriously injured after a shooting that happened in Lynchburg Thursday evening.

According to the Lynchburg Police Department, officers responded to The Meadows Apartments at 2315 Yorktown Ave. in Lynchburg at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports that two people had been shot.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. Both men were taken to Lynchburg General Hospital.

One of the men, identified as Dre'yon Ty'Shean Browley, 18, of Lynchburg, died at the hospital, according to Lynchburg police. The other 18-year-old man, who has not been identified at this time, is being treated for serious injuries. Police said he is in critical, but stable condition.

The Campbell County Sheriff's Office assisted the Lynchburg Police Department with this investigation and they were able to locate the suspect and the suspect's vehicle from this incident.

The suspect, who is a juvenile from Campbell County, was taken into custody three hours after the shooting, police said. He faces various charges including murder, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

According to police, this was an isolated incident. They are still investigating at this time.
