UPDATE: Man killed in Danville incident identified

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- UPDATE

Around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the 600 block of Gay Street for a disturbance call.

Upon arrival, police say they found a 29-year-old male and 54-year-old male, both Danville residents, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police say the 29-year-old male, identified as Robert Albert Irvin, died as a result of his injuries.

The 54-year-old male was transported to the hospital for medical treatment, police say.

According to Lt. Mike Wallace of the Danville Police Department, one person is dead, while another was injured in an incident in Danville.

Wallace says around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the 600 block of Gay Street for a disturbance call. Upon arrival, police say one person was discovered dead, while another was injured and taken to the hospital.

It is unclear what happened, but Wallace says the incident is being investigated as a homicide. No word on whether the person died from gunshot wounds or even if shots were fired.
