AEP: More than 58,000 power outages in Southwest Virginia

UPDATE:

Appalachian Power says that contract crews have been placed to help local crews with restoring power to the 58,000 Appalachian Power customers without power.

More teams are set to help with assessment.

AP expects more outages to occur throughout the day as the storm continues.

UPDATE:

Appalachian Power is reporting more than 35,000 outages in Southwest Virginia.

Counties with 500+ outages:

Carroll County- 8,278

Floyd County- 7,027

Grayson County- 6,968

Montgomery County- 3,099

Smyth County- 2,833

Pulaski County- 1,829

Wythe County- 1,791

Patrick County- 1,207

Bland County- 1,164

Roanoke/Roanoke County- 586

Franklin County- 500

UPDATE:

Appalachian Power is reporting more than 1,400 outages between Grayson and Patrick Counties.

Grayson County has a total of 819 power outages. Those outages are expected to be restored Thursday by 11:30 a.m.

Patrick County has a total of 619 power outages. Those outages are expected to be restored Thursday by 12:30 p.m.
