Passport Missions Camp visits Danville

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) About 350 kids from 22 different churches and seven states are in Danville this week to help improve the community.

They are from the Passport Missions Camp.

The kids are staying at Averett University in the dorms.

They go to bible study in the morning, and then split up throughout the community at eight different sites.

"In bible study each day they're talking about putting their faith into action, so being on mission sites in this community helps them to go ahead and start doing that and then our hope is that when they go home at the end of the week that they continue that in their own communities," says Mary Katherine Johnson with Passport Missions Camp.

Some of the various projects include working in community gardens and mentoring area children.
