PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Patrick County deputies need your help in locating a person of interest in a recent robbery in the Goblintown area of the county.

A 75-year-old woman told deputies that she arrived at her home around 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 3. That's when deputies say the woman advised that she'd been followed by a small white vehicle that pulled into her driveway behind her.

Before the woman could enter her home, a male subject approached her and forced her pocketbook from her, causing her to fall to the ground. The woman was later able to make it into her home, but was physically unable to phone for help once inside, deputies say.

Deputies say the woman's sister found her lying face down inside of the home on Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. That's when the Sheriff's Office was called.

The woman was later hospitalized and her condition is improving, deputies report.

"Someone out there knows who did this, don't let this weigh on your conscience," Sheriff Dan Smith said.

Deputies say the person of interest in this matter is described as a tall, skinny male wearing a dark hoodie. The woman told deputies that a second suspect stayed inside of a car during the alleged robbery.

The woman was not able to identify the race of the suspects, deputies say.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Sheriff Smith confidentially at 276-692-7012.
