UPDATE: Pedestrian hit by train in Danville


Danville police say the 25-year-old male victim has been transferred to Roanoke Carilion for further treatment.

They say he is suffering from fractures.


The train involved in the crash has been moved.

Norfolk Southern and Danville police are still blocking the road.


Police in Danville are investigating after a person was hit by a train Monday afternoon.

It happened on Lanier Avenue near the Balou Shopping Center.

Police say the male victim was walking from the shopping center across the tracks when it happened.

The victim was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Police are waiting for Norfolk Southern officials to arrive, and the train is still blocking the crossing on Wooding Avenue.
