On Sunday morning, the U.S. Marshall's Task Force and the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office located and arrested Antone Lemont Hamlett, who had been the focus of a manhunt in Pittsylvania County in November.

Investigators say their investigation led them to Hilltop Motel on Bill Tuck Highway in South Boston where they located Hamlett leaving his hotel room on Sunday at 10:15 a.m.

Investigators say Hamlett tried to run away from them, but they apprehended him a short distance from the hotel.

Investigators had been searching for Hamlett after Hamlett allegedly abducted and brutally attacked his estranged wife in Halifax County.

According to investigators, Hamlett's estranged wife escaped from him and received help from a person along U.S. Highway 29 near Gretna.

Since this incident, law enforcement has been searching for Hamlett.

On Sunday, officials say Hamlett was arrested on outstanding warrants from Halifax County for felonious assault and malicious wounding.

According to investigators, Hamlett was taken to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail under no bond.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office is still investigating and is looking for any information regarding people who may have helped in hiding Hamlett to avoid his capture.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office is urging residents in Pittsylvania County, especially the north eastern section, to secure their homes, outbuildings, campers, unattended vehicles and any type of structure that may provide shelter for Hamlett.

The Sheriff's Office is also urging those who are hunting in the area to secure their vehicles and to make sure not to leave any firearms unattended in their vehicles.

Deputies say a resident reported an unknown man on their property that matched the behavior of Hamlett. Officials searched the area and believe the sighting was consistent with his description.

Deputies say if you see Hamlett, do not approach him and call 911 or 434-432-7931.

A reward of up to $1000 is being offered from Pittsylvania County Crimestoppers for information leading to Hamlett's arrest and conviction.
