UPDATE: Driver identified after Lynchburg crash

The Lyncburg Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash earlier today at the 3500 block of Fort Avenue.

The crash involved a 2003 Ford Focus that struck a utility pole causing the road to be blocked.

When heading westbound, in the area of Rutherford Street, the driver began swerving before losing control of the vehicle.

It then struck the utility pole and turned on its side.

The driver has been identified as 20-year-old Jahnia Boyd of Lynchburg who received only minor injuries. Boyd was charged with Reckless Driving.


Lynchburg Police are currently working on a single vehicle accident in the 3500 block of Fort Avenue.

According to a release, the vehicle struck a utility pole which is damaged to the extent it will need significant repairs.

Authorities say Fort Avenue between Oakridge Blvd. and Rutherford Street will be completely blocked for approximately four hours.
