Roanoke City Police officers called for assistance when several fights broke out in the crowd of a high school basketball game Thursday night.

Officers were already at Patrick Henry high school when the basketball game against William Fleming High School went into overtime.

Once the game ended, several fights broke out simultaneously in what was described as a very large crowd.

Officers at the scene called for assistance in getting the crowd under control.

Pepper spray was used by officers inside the gym in attempts to disperse the crowd.

No injuries have been reported; however, a pregnant woman who was in the crowd was taken to a hospital.

The resource officers at Patrick Henry High School will review the surveillance footage Friday morning to determine who was involved in the incident.
