Charges filed in Danville murder from March
Danville Police and the Danville Commonwealth Attorney’s Office have charged a Danville man for the March 4 murder of Melvin Smith.
29-year-old Ladarius Jeffries is being held with no bond in the Danville City Jail on one count of second-degree murder.
Police arrested Jeffries March 4 for an outstanding probation violation. He has been in jail since then.
The investigation started with a 911 call about shots being fired that led police to the 300 block of Summit Road. The 40-year-old victim was found in the front yard of his house with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
