Police make arrest after apartment burglary in Radford

RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) - The Radford City Police Department have arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a burglary and assault at an apartment on the 300 block of Tyler Avenue.

Police say they arrived on the scene yesterday evening at around 11:30 p.m. and found that the apartment had been forcibly entered into.

Crews also found three occupants that had been physically assaulted and verbally threatened by a suspect brandishing a knife.

It is reported that the victims received minor injuries from the assault, but none of the injuries were from the knife.

After an investigation, police arrested Quantay LaShawn Olds, 23, who is a resident of a different apartment at the same block where the crime was located.

Olds has been charged with one count of breaking and entering with intent to commit assault while armed with a deadly weapon, 3 counts of misdemeanor assault and battery and one misdemeanor count of destruction of property.

Police say Olds' was sent to the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.

Officials also executed a search warrant at the suspect's apartment where evidence of the alleged crime was recovered.

This incident remains under investigation at this time.
