UPDATE: Star City Skate Center suspends public skating

ROANOKE CO., Va. (WDBJ7) -- UPDATE:
Star City Skate Center has changed its hours until further notice, according to a post on the business' Facebook page.

"In the interest of safety and diligence, the Skate Center will change its operating hours ... until further notice," the posting states, dated Dec. 26.

The center will have hours by appointment only for private childcare groups from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The center will be closed on weekends and have no public skating until further notice.

No mention was made of the alleged fight that occurred Sunday. Police have yet to release any details on the investigation or any arrests.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Roanoke city and county police are investigating an alleged fight that occurred Sunday at Star City Skate Center on Hershberger Road.

Officers say they were called to 140 Hershberger Road just before 1 a.m. in reference to disturbance in which juveniles were fighting. According to a release from Roanoke County police, authorities found about 200 individuals, both adults and juveniles, on the scene.

There were reports of shots fired, but police say they didn’t find any evidence to corroborate that complaint.

No arrests were made, and no victims were found of the alleged fight, the release stated.

All of the juveniles were turned over to their parents or caretakers. No arrests have been made at this time.
