FLOYD, Va. (WDBJ7)— Crews at the Floyd County Fair are busy getting ready for this weekend’s annual event.
This year the theme is ‘there’s no place like the fair’. It is, of course, a play off of the Wizard of Oz.
You’ll have a chance to walk along the yellow brick road, to learn about tornadoes and to see some classic characters like the tin man.
This is the 13th year of the fair, but organizers say this year’s theme really aligns with the meaning of no place like home.
“When we sit down and really look at how Floyd was developed, why Floyd was developed, it gets back to our history of livestock and agriculture and things that are really to the core,” said co-director Joni Underwood. “It really is a way to bring everybody back home, we know we say there’s no place like the fair, but it’s also there’s no place like home.”
Everything will be held again this year at Chantilly Farm. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 7-17 and free for children under the age of 6. The fair will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
