SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) -- Preparations are underway for the 4th Annual LewisGale Salem Half Marathon.

Saturday, runners will compete in the 13.1 mile Half Marathon, an 8K, or two different Kids Fun Runs.

“We are just so excited about the course itself and the enthusiasm from all the local runners and runners that are coming from out of town for this race, it’s really great to see the increase in participation,” said Race Director Molly Bullington.

Close to 800 runners have signed up for Saturday's races. You can enroll right up to race time. Organizers are expecting a record turnout.

Due to the races, Main Street from 4th Street to College Avenue will be shut down from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday. Clay Street, High Street, Hawthorn Road, North Market Street, Red Lane, Academy Street, and parts of Broad and Colorado Street will also be closed for most of the morning.
