RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) A Civil War battle fought in Pulaski County 152 years ago is getting recognition on the silver screen.

The Battle Of Cloyd's Mountain is a documentary created by Pulaski County native Gary Cox.

It was shown Monday at the Radford Theater with a welcome from the New River Rifles, a reenactment group made up of people from Virginia and North Carolina.

Many of them were in the documentary that was filmed in Dublin during the 150th anniversary of the battle two years ago.

"People want to know where they come from. To create a audio visual representation a part of your ruts of a people is very important to keep it alive," said Gary Cox, a filmmaker who now lives in Wisconsin.

Over the weekend he also helped dedicate a monument in Carroll County to honor his great-great grandfather, Isaac Sumner, who fought in the battle.
