PULASKI, Va. (WDBJ7) The men and women in blue in Pulaski are adding another color, purple!

Officers and members of town government are dying their hair purple in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Officers involved say they get stopped and asked questions a lot, which allows them to inform the public about the crime.

"Domestic violence is something that we deal with on a daily basis," Officer Megan Jennings said. "That said, we know there's even more of it that goes on that just simply doesn't get reported. So we would just like to let victims and also witnesses to report these incidents and understand that there are so many options out there for them to utilize."

The department also held an event this month where anyone could get temporary purple hair.
