RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) - A group of Radford students is spending part of their summer break in the Amazon!
Ten students are in Peru as part of the Radford Amazonian Research Expedition. For some, this trip is their first time out of the country. For others, it was their fire time on an airplane!
The students from various majors are focusing on research projects that include comparing Peru to the New River Valley in areas like veterinary practices and forensic decay.
"I'm excited to see new plants and animals that I've never been able to see in America before," said student Sydni Pennington. "And I'm just excited to learn about myself as a researcher and get close to the people on my team."
Pennington is researching how classrooms adapt for disabilities compared to Virginia schools.
Their three-week trip will wrap up with a visit to Machu Picchu.
