RADFORD, Va. Radford City Police received a special donation Friday from a Radford University fraternity.

Lambda Alpha Epsilon is a criminal justice co-ed fraternity that helps local law enforcement every year.

After a semester of fundraising on GoFundMe, they presented a check for more than $500 to go towards the department's K-9 unit.

The fraternity said it's important to them to support Radford alum officer JD Miller and local police in general.

"To help out our community, just help out JD because he was one of us and he is still one of us," said Michelle Jordan, the Fundraising Chair for Lambda Alpha Epsilon at Radford. "Once you're a brother, we help out brothers."

Miller, a Senior Police Officer and K9 Handler, said of the support, "It's awesome! I don't think that we could be blessed anymore with an organization that helps us out more than they do. They've donated to us and helped out K9 fund out tremendously."

Officer Miller said the money will be used on training and food for their four dogs.
