UPDATE: Radford police arrest man after shots fired report at grocery store

RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) UPDATE: 3/1/18 7:40 p.m.

Radord City Police announced Thursday evening they have arrested Kalif Tyrik McNair, 21, of Newport News in connection with today's shooting incident.

McNair is being held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail. He's been charged with discharging a firearm in a public place, reckless handling of a firearm, and distribution of marijuana.

Police said they would not release any additional information at this time,

Radford police say a man was taken into custody this afternoon, following reports of shots being fired near a grocery store.

Officers say they were called to the Food Lion on Tyler Avenue around 1:20 Thursday afternoon to investigate reports of "shots fired" in a parking lot of the business. Police say no one was injured.

One man was detained near the Food Lion, according to police. They say a gun was located near the man.

Police say they are trying to locate a dark colored, four-door sedan seen leaving the area by witnesses.

The Food Lion store is operating normally.
