UPDATE: Two RU students remain hospitalized after stabbing

The Chief Communications Officer at Radford University has confirmed that all three victims were students of the university.

Two of the victims remain hospitalized with serious injuries, but WDBJ7 was told that they are in stable condition.

No criminal activity was reported to have occurred on the Radford campus during this incident.

The investigation is still ongoing.


The Radford City Police have arrested the man accused of stabbing multiple people last night at the 1300 block of Lawrence Street.

Police have identified the individual as Elijah Z. Nichols, 18, of Roanoke.

According to reports, Nichols has been charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding and is currently being held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail.

All three that were stabbed were transported to the Cariliion New River Medical Center. The status on their condition is still unknown at this time.

The Radford City Police Department is investigating a report of multiple aggravated assaults, which occurred in the 1300 block of Lawrence Street around 10:50 p.m. Thursday

Multiple victims were reported to have been stabbed by a suspect described as a black male, wearing blue shorts, a black shirt and a backwards facing baseball hat.

The status of their injuries is currently unknown.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
