Remembering POWs and MIA

BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) “Never Forget.”

Saturday marked National POW/MIA Day. And a ceremony held at the National D-Day Memorial took time to remember those brave men and women who gave their lives for this country.

For over a decade, the National D-Day Memorial has taken time to honor our nations heroes. Heroes who were held captive and heroes who never returned.

For Robert Gray, this day holds special meaning. He enlisted in the Army at age 17. In 1950 he served in the Korean War. After just five months of serving, he and five others were taken by the Chinese.

After being a Prisoner of War for 34 months, he was released in 1953. He says he feels lucky to have survived and to be able to share his story.
