ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Rescue Mission launched a new program to fight against the growing opioid epidemic.
The new program is called Track and it helps people ease into the longer addiction recovery sessions. "They go knocking on doors and there is nowhere to go to get the help they need," said Tracy Altizer. "We want to try to fix that."
The organization has a 12-month program that is filled to capacity every month. The initiative includes counseling, Bible study, academic and job training. Organizers want to keep participants active and surrounded by support Rescue Mission hopes to help more people, so they are participating in the annual Roanoke Valley Gives Campaign.
