LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) A retired NFL player is back in Lynchburg, hosting an event he hopes will lead to change in his hometown.

Former New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings is leading a community roundtable Thursday night at E.C. Glass High School. The event is free and open to the public.

Jennings says he wants people to come out and talk about issues facing the area, and share solutions to those problems.

"I don't live here on a daily basis, but my roots are here," Jennings told WDBJ7. "My family is here. I come here a lot, so I'm offering myself and saying, please, help me help you."

Jennings' roundtable runs from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday. It's part of his "180 Weekend" events.

Jennings is hosting a "date night" for couples Friday at the LaHaye Ice Center, and a football skills camp for kids at Liberty University Saturday.
