Smoking materials in mulch cause of TGI Fridays fire in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Crews responded to a fire at the TGI Fridays near Valley View in Roanoke early Wednesday night.

Crews received a call at 7:13 p.m. to respond to a fire at the restaurant located on 4869 Valley View Blvd. Crews say the fire was under control at 8:22.p.m.

Investigators with Roanoke Fire-EMS, believe the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials in the mulch.

Officials say the restaurant suffered $75,000 in damages.

No injuries were reported at this time.
