Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport sees lower fares, more passengers

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Holiday travelers are finding lower fares at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport this year.

Within the last two months, the airport says it has seen a significant drop in its rate structure, bringing many fares in line with other airports in the region.

Brad Boettcher is airport's Director of Marketing.

"Where normally, we might have been 15 percent more expensive than some of the other regional airports, right now we're about on par," Boettcher told WDBJ7. "So it's been a significant reduction. I flew last month and a ticket that normally would run $650 was $450 out to the west coast."

At the same time, Boettcher says the number of passengers has been climbing, up by more than 2000 during October.
