Roanoke Catholic chef receives surprise sendoff before national competition
Students and staff at Roanoke Catholic School are giving their chef a thumbs up, as he prepares for a national competition.
Friday morning, they surprised Peter Radjou with a chef's coat, featuring the thumbprints of students, teachers and staff.
By winning Baconfest back in August, Radjou qualified to compete in the World Food Championships next week in Alabama. This will be the third year he has participated in the national competition.
"I'm very, very excited. and I'm very, very grateful to the school community as well as you know my church community," Radjou told WDBJ7. "They are very supportive and encourage me a lot."
Radjou told us he will prepare his own recipe for bacon jalapeno cornbread, and a signature dish that will be a surprise for the competition.
