UPDATE: Roanoke man found dead off Dragon's Tooth trail

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Update:

Paul Youmans has been found dead of what appears to be a self-inflicted wound, according to Roanoke County Police.

Youmans was found just after 1 p.m. in an area of interest off the hiking trail leading to Dragon's Tooth.

Police are still investigating. Youmans had been missing since Monday.

Roanoke County Police request people not to aid in the search for the Roanoke man who went missing near Dragon's Tooth.

In a Facebook post, the Roanoke County Police requests people not to aid in finding Paul Youmans due to the hazardous conditions of the Dragon's Tooth.

Roanoke County Police say the scent of the helpers could interfere in the search.

Roanoke County Police and emergency crews are searching for a missing man.

Officials said Tuesday that police were called to a well-being check on Georgetown Road on Monday afternoon.

They were told Paul Youmans, from Roanoke County, had not been seen since early in the morning.

Officials said his car was found in the parking lot near the hiking trails
leading to Dragon’s Tooth in Catawba.

Crews searched for Youmans until midnight Tuesday, but had to suspend the search because of the darkness and the steep, rocky terrain of the trail system.

They picked up the search Tuesday, but still have not found Youmans.

Crews will resume the search on Wednesday.
