ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- The Roanoke Greek festival invites Virginia residents to "Come be Greek for a day". This free event takes place the weekend of September 20–22 at The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Roanoke.
Presented by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the festival is a cultural exhibit and celebration which began in 2006 with an estimated 10,000 visitors. It has grown to host around 25,000 visitors throughout the course of the three-day event. The Greek Festival has been voted the Best Food Festival in Southwest Virginia by Virginia Living Magazine.
The festival offers a wide variety of Greek food and drink, live Greek music and dance performances, as well as tours of the church.
The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is a place to see and learn about authentic Byzantine iconography, the centuries-old fresco painting seen in some of the oldest churches in the world today.
