Suspect arrested for Roanoke weekend shooting death

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) -- UPDATE: According to court documents, Roanoke City police have requested medical records for Brewer.

Search warrants have also been filed for the address where police believe the murder took place earlier this month.

Police also found cell phones, cartridge casings and drugs at 1806 Gandy Road.

Williams has a preliminary hearing scheduled for February 14.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Camron Williams was located at a home in the 900 block of 5th Street NW and taken into custody Monday. He is charged with second-degree murder.

25-year-old Nasion Brewer was shot and killed in Roanoke early Saturday morning in the 1800 block of Gandy Drive NW.

Officers found him with multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators say Brewer appeared to have been involved in a confrontation with another man that escalated quickly before shots were fired.

Brewer was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he died.
