Roanoke bike share drawing members from outside city limits
The people behind Roanoke's bike share are seeing some usage trends.
They sent out a survey to 1,500 members earlier this year to figure out where they're from. The top two zip codes are in Roanoke city. The third most popular is from Roanoke County. The folks at RIDE Solutions say it shows the bike share could be drawing people in.
Tim Pohlad-Thomas, RIDE Solutions Outreach Communications Specialist, said, “It offers an opportunity where it's bringing people into the city and giving them more access around the city without having to worry about parking and traffic and anything like that.”
They're planning to add five more stations next spring, and they're hoping to use ride information to figure out where stations, and bike lanes, would be most useful.
