Roanoke man charged in fatal hit and run to undergo competency evaluation
The man charged with a fatal hit-and-run from earlier this year will undergo a competency evaluation before his case heads to trial.
Gene Gallimore was arrested in May following a February incident that killed Linda Pierson as she was walking home from work at the Roanoke City Sheriff's Office.
Roanoke Police said someone hit and killed Pierson while she was crossing the intersection at 5th Street and Campbell Avenue in downtown Roanoke.
According to recent court documentation, there's been an order for Gallimore to undergo an evaluation to determine whether he's competent to stand trial.
It will likely delay the trial, which was set for later this month.
