UPDATE: Roanoke police: Man dies after truck accidentally runs over him

A man is dead Thursday after police say he was accidentally run over by a tractor truck.

Roanoke police responded to a call about a man lying under a tractor truck in the 200 block of Glade View Drive Northeast Thursday.

Police say the call came in around 10:17 a.m. When officers arrived to the scene, they found a man lying dead in the street adjacent to the truck. Upon investigating, police discovered the man was accidentally run over by the truck while detaching the trailer from the truck, according to police.

Roanoke police discovered the truck was left in neutral when the driver got out of the truck causing it to roll forward and crush the man.

Roanoke police, Roanoke Fatality Investigators, Roanoke Forensic Investigators, and Virginia State Police are still investigating.

Police say they are not yet releasing the name of the man.


Caitlyn Kline with the Roanoke Police Department has confirmed a fatality on Glade View Drive off of King Street Northeast in Roanoke.

The call came in around 10:00 am Thursday morning. According to police, there was a body under a truck tractor trailer.

Roanoke police say at this point, the fatality appears to be accidental.

Police say no family has been notified.

The cause of death is still being investigated.
