ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) - A local school is offering students a chance to make some art, make some money and make a difference in the community.
As a school fundraiser, Bent Mountain Christian School has organized the Roanoke Valley Student Art Competition. All K through 12 students in the area can participate, home schooled students included.
The art will be displayed and if sold, half the proceeds go to the student and half goes to the Rescue Mission.
"I just want them to have fun doing it and maybe win some, a prize, or maybe have their artwork sold," said Jennifer Lawrence, director of the art competition. "Even if they don't win a prize you could potentially make some money at this. And you're actually helping somebody at the same time so I think it's a win-win all the way."
Entrance fees will also include a canvas for each student. The submission deadline is March 30. The competition theme is "Life in the Roanoke Valley.
