Rockbridge County Fair includes school visit

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY (WDBJ7) The Rockbridge County Fair began at the Virginia Horse Center.

One traditional feature, among the livestock contests and expos, is a visit by all of the second graders in the county to displays organized by the local 4H.

"So one of the things I always say: I don't want these kids to think that milk comes directly from Kroger," says Rockbridge 4H Extension Agent Megan Sheets. "I want them to realize that a cow was a part of that process, before the milk got to Kroger, it came from a cow. And by the time they leave here, I think they're able to make that connection."

The fair runs from Thursday through Saturday. Admission to the contests and displays is free.
