BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Montgomery County has closed it's sale of the long-discussed front portion of the old Blacksburg Middle School property.

Thursday was the final day for Midtown Redevelopment L.L.C. to close on the 5.49 acre property.

The sale was for $2.5 million.

The County said the sale is official after the deed is recorded Friday.

Montgomery County Board of Supervisors Chair Chris Tuck said in November when news of the sale was made public, "We are happy that Midtown has decided to move forward with this purchase. This is a step towards the development of the entire former school site, which will benefit our citizens and generate tax dollars once the project is complete."
